CD #2: Mozart Magic Flute selections

For the Final Exam, you will have to identify the selection by
character/s who are singing; except for the overture, which is purely
instrumental.

2. Tamino - Aria
He sings of falling in love with
the portrait of Pamina
3. Queen of the Night - Recitative and Aria
Sings of her grief at losing her daughter Pamina
4. Duett - Pamina and Papgeno
Sing of the joy of the power of love
5. Pamina and Sarastro
Pamina asks forgiveness for trying to run away, and
he says he has her best interests at heart though he won't
grant freedom just yet.
6. Sarastro and Choir of Priests - Aria and Chorus
Praise virtue and justice, which make a heaven of
earth and mortals like the gods.
7. Quintet - Three Ladies, Tamino and Papageno
The three ladies remind T. and P. of their mission.
Having sworn to silence, T. doesn't speak to them (though
he does make remarks aside to P!), but P. chatters on. A
priest enters at the end, sending the ladies off.
8. Monostatos - Aria
He sings of his desire for Pamina, who is lying asleep.
9. Queen of the Night - Aria
The queen exhorts Pamina to kill Sarastro and
swears her vengeance.
10. Papageno - Aria
He wishes he had a girlfriend; uses magic bells.
11. Papageno and Papagena
Sing of their love and having children.
