Define power electronics. Discuss the relationship of power electronics to power,

electronics & control.
What are the various types of thyristors? Draw the v-i characteristic curve of
thyristor?

What is UJT? Show its characteristics. Explain triggering signal generator for SCRs.
Design a UJT triggering circuit. The UJT parameters are Vs=30v, = 0.51, Ip= 10A,
Vv= 3.5V and Iv =10mA. The frequency of oscillation is f= 60Hz, width of triggering
pulse tg= 50 s. Assume Vd= 0.5.
