Mercury Vapor Lamp & Metal Halide

Halogen Lamps
Ahalogen lamp, is anincandescent lampthat has a small
amount of ahalogensuch asiodineorbromineadded. The
combination of the halogen gas and thetungstenfilament
produces ahalogen cyclechemical reaction which re deposits
evaporated tungsten back onto the filament, increasing its life
and maintaining the clarity of the envelope.

Mercury Vapor Applications

Common uses: large areas like
parks, street lighting, high ceiling
buildings, gyms. Low pressure lamps
with a quartz envelope are used for
germicidal purposes since they allow
UV light to pass.

Metal Halide applications

Common uses:outdoor lighting where good color
rendering is needed, television/film lighting, sports
fields, car headlights, flood lights, heavy
flashlights, green house applications

Halogen Application
8

mm projectors (first use 1960)

Portable work lights
Film/Television Production Lighting
Home Interior Lighting (Smaller Wattage)
Home and Commercial Exterior Lighting (Larger Wattage)
Auto headlights
