The Manipal Education Group is an inspiring leader in the field of education, research and
healthcare. In aspan of over six decades, it has transformed the lives of more than 3,00,000 students
from over 59 countries. The group includes five Universities - Manipal University (Manipal, Karnataka),
Sikkim Manipal University (Sikkim), American University of Antigua (Caribbean Islands), Manipal

The Manipal Education Group, with its heritage of excellence in higher education for over 60 years,
launched Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ) in 2011. MUJ was established on an invitation from the
Government of Rajasthan, as a self-financed State University and is all set to redefine academic
excellence in the region, with the Manipalway of leaming: one that inspires students of all disciplines
toleam andinnovate through hands on, practical experience.
Jaipur, being one of the fastest growing cities in India, has increasing demand for quality higher
education in the region. Following an allotment of 127 Acres of land at Dehmi Kalan village near
Jaipur, the permanent campus of the Universily has come up at a fast pace andis by far one of the
bestcampusesin the region
The multi-ciscipiinary university offers career-oriented courses at all levels, .¢., UG, PG and doctoral
and across diverse streams, including Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Fashion Design, Fine Arts,
Hospitality, Humanities, Journalism and Mass Communication, Basic Sciences, Law, Commerce,
Computer Applications, Management, etc. Some PG programmes are also available in the

MU4J boasts of the best-in-class infrastructure, including state-of-the-art research facilifies and o
modem digital library. in line with Manipal University’s legacy of providing quality education to its
students, the campus uses the latest in technology to impart education,Research @ MUJ
Right from inception the Manipal University Jaipurhas been emphasizing on research. Within a shor
span of three years, the university has been successful in attracting sponsored research projects
from Government agencieslike DST and agencies from abroad. MUJ has @ policy to encourage the
faculty to undertake research projects. There is a provision for aresearch grant of upto Rs. One lakh,
‘as seed-money, to enable young faculty to start research activity. MUJ also believes in introducing
elements of research & innovation at the undergraduate level. Theme based workshops, seminars
‘and conferences are organized throughout the year to enrich academic environment. The
university has established two Centres of Excellence in Research, namely ‘Centre of Excellence in
Bult Environment’ and ‘Centre of Excellence for Research on Nanomaterials’ to cater to researchin
relevant areas. Central research facilities are established to encourage inter-disciplinaryresearch.
PhD Programme.
The MUJ PhD Programme is modelled on the new UGC guidelines for PhD programmes. The
University envisages high quality of research so that the PhD degree is also of high standard. The
‘objectives of this programme are to impart research training to the scholars and prepare them to
carry on independent investigation and original research and to enable them to make a significant
contribution to knowledge in their respective field and profession. The training programme shal
‘ensure a fruitful career in research, Two PhD degrees were awardedin the year 2013-14
Presently, MUJ has a PhD programme for full-time & part-time research in almost all disciplines in
Engineering, Architecture & Design, Sciences, Management, Commerce, Humanities and Social
Sciences and Law.
Eligibility: The candidate must have obtained a Master's degree (10+2+3+2 pattem or equivalent
in that order) of MUJ or any other University recognized by UGC as equivalent thereto, with not less
than 55%" morks or CGPA of 5.5. and above in the 10point scale.

Admission Procedure: Selection of research scholats is based on their performance in both writlen
test and interview, conducted by the University twice a year (June and December). The candidate
must clear the university PhD entrance examination or submit a valid
UGC/CSIR(JRF]/GATE/SLET/NET Examination score card/M Phildegree.
Teaching Assistantship: To encourage reseorch at
MU, a fow teaching assistantships of Rs.12,000/-
per month are provided to fulltime research
scholars for a period up to three years, besides a
contingency grant of Rs. 10,000 per year.

students are allowed to register for many open electives from diverse streams. Education at MUJ is
not just about books and classrooms, but also about overall personality development and honing

offered. Apart from gaining a degree that is recognized all over the word, a student actually
graduates with an edge over the others, whichis so necessary in today's competitive world.
MUJ students have their hands full, 24x7, with various curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular
activities happening all round the year. The campusis fully wifi enabled and boasts of a large, 120
PC Central Computing Facility. The academic process is completely automated, with an
Academic Management System in place, which allows students and their parents to access their
grades, attendance, etc., from the confines of their homes. It also renders the evaluation and
examination system highly open and transparent.
The faculty at MUJ is highly qualified and is assisted by an eminent and experienced Adjunct
faculty. An Academic Advisory Board, consisting of highly placed academicians and industrialists
from the state and centre, is in place, to provide the necessary expertise on all academic matters

The spacious and state-of-the-ort digital Library at MUL is adequately stocked, with the requisite
number of reference and text-books, a large number of national and intemational journals of
repute, e-books and ejournals. Students and faculty are given on-line access to many e-
books/coutses, from Pearson, NPTEL, Springer, etc.
Many indoor and outdoor facilities are available to students, for sports, cultural and technical
activities outside the classroom, through various Student Clubs. The sports facilities include TI.
carrom, football, tennis, badminton, squash, cricket, throwball, kabaddi, etc. Intra- and inter-
University matches take place regularly, throughout the year. The Music, Literature and Dramatics
Clubs facilitate students to hone their creativity and show their prowessin the cultural arena, under
the able guidance of expert faculty. Technical Clubs like the Green Club, Robotics Club, IEEE
Students' chapter, IE(\) and ICEIT chapters, etc. allow the students to learn and update themselves

Faculty: The school has a team of 47 dedicated faculty members as on date. Their experience
ranges from teaching and research, to industrial ond hands-on. Together, the team is capable of

total seals are reserved for foreign/ NRI category. Under this category, MUJ admils NRI sponsored
students whose parents or blood relatives can sponsor. Sponsors are required to submit a Notarized
Affidavit stating their relationship with the candidate. Payment is to be made in US Dollars from the
sponsors’ bank account.

The School of Electrical, Electronics and Communication (SEEC)
Engineering comprises of branches of Electrical Engineering
Sciences. The school runs two UG Programmes, namely, Electrical
& Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Communication
Engineering, three PG Programmes, namely Digital Electronics &
Communication (DEAC) Engineering, Microelectronics, Power
Electronics & Systems (PES) and PhD Programmes in all these
disciplines.
B Tech programmes offer a unique mix of Electrical, Electronics,
Communication, Instrumentation and Computer related Courses that enable the student to
choose o professional career and/or pursue higher studies in any of these streams. The _M Tech
programmes have a multi disciplinary focus and are designed with the sole aim of developing the
students! core competence, to take up the challenges in the field of Design, Research &
Development, Production & Maintenance as perindustry and academic requirements,
The wide range of programmes and open elective courses offered in the Blech & Mech
programmes, cover a broad spectrum of the subject domain and enables the students to
specialize in their areas of interest. The curriculum is periodically updated, in consultation with the
experts fromindustry and academia, to reflect current changesin technology.
Laboratories: All laboratories of the school are equipped with the latest hardware and software
fools to support knowledge dissemination in the classroom and provide hands-on practical

The University follows an efficient and flexible
semester system with continuous and
comprehensive evaluation, Each semester of study
has minimum requirements of number of course
credits that must be taken. Each course is defined in
terms of contact hours, by lectures, tutorials and/or practical sessions.
Maximum duration of any Academic Programme
The maximum time allowed for a student to complete the degree requirementin any programme is
twice the duration of the programme, from the date of fist registration in the first semester.
2. CREDITS AND PROMOTION
2.1 Credit Based System Each course, theory as well as practical, is expressed in terms of a certain
number of credits. The number of contact hours per week determines the credits. Normally, in the
case of theory courses, the number of credits is equal to the number of contact hours (lectures &
tutorials) per week. For practical courses, one credit is assigned for every two/three contact hours
perweek.
Every course is assigned an [LT P C] code indicating Lectures/week, Tutorials /week, Practical/
week and the crecils assigned. For example, a theory course with an [LTP C] code of [310.4] has3

2.2 Semester completion A student successfully completes a parficular semester when he/she
earns the specified credits of that semester and
passes (i.e., obtains letter grade E or above} in any
Audit course prescribed in the curriculum. A student
earns full credits for a registered course if he/she
secures letter grade E or higherin that course,
2.3 Promotion to higher semesters is based on
securing a prescribed minimum number of credits,
as detailedin section 4 below.
2.4 Graduation A student completes the
requirements for graduation, when he/she eams the
specified number of credits in all the semesters

3. REGISTRATION
3.1 Each student has to register for the core courses
of his/her programme with the parent department
at the commencement of each semester, on the

semester, asnotified by the Department.
4, PROMOTION TO HIGHER SEMESTERS,
Promotion from an even semester to the next higher odd semester is subject to the minimum.

4.1 Tobe eligible for promotion to the third semester, a student should have eamned a minimum of 30
credits at the end of second semester.
To be eligible for promotion to the fifth semester, a student should have eamed a minimum of 75
credits at the end of fourth semester.
To be eligible for promotion to seventh semester of a four year programme, a student should have
eamed a minimum of 125 credits at the end of sixth semester. Similarly, to be eligible for promotion
to ninth semester of afive year programme, astudent should have eared a minimum of 175 credits

4.2 Students of 2nd year willbe promoted to 3rd year only if they have earned all credits of Ist year.
Similarly, students of 3rd year willbe promoted to 4th year only if they have eamed all credits of 2nd

4.3 Credits of core courses in a programme should be eamed, but a student may register for

5. COURSE RE-REGISTRATION
5.1 Onfailure
5.1.1 If student fails in any course, he/she may re-
register for the course in any regular semester, to
improve his/her in-semester marks, provided there is
no Time-table clashwith the regular courses.
5.1.2 A student can re-register for a maximum of 8
credits of such failed (backlog) courses, in addition
to the credits of the current semester, provided the

7.2 Performance in each theory course is evaluated out of a maximum of 100 marks, of which 50
marks are for in-semester assignments and 50 marks for the end-semester examinations (

9. GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA) & CUMULATIVE GRADE POINT AVERAGE (CGPA)
9.1 The overall performance of a student will be
indicated by two indices: Grade Point Average
(GPA) & Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA}
GPA is the weighted average of the grades
obtainedin asemester.
CGPA is the weighted average of the grades upto
and including any semester.
The details of calculation of GPA and CGPA are
given in Appendix 1
9.2 After the results dre declared, grade cards wil
be issued to each student, which will contain the list of courses for that semesten.and grades
obtained by the student, GPA of that semester as well as aggregate attendance percentage of
that semester.

10, END-SEMESTER / MAKE-UP EXAMINATION
10.1 The end semester examination will be
conducted only in the courses offered in the current
semester. That is, at the end of the odd semester,
examinations in the courses of the odd semester will
be conducted. Similarly, at the end of the even
semester, examinations will be conducted only in
the courses of the even semester,
10.2 Make-up (supplementary) examinations will
only be held together with the examinations of the
summer semester, for students who have got
grade in the courses offered during the earlier
regulorsemesters.
10.2.1 Astudent can take a Make-up examination in a course in which he is awarded F grade.
10.2.2 F grade is awarded if a student fails to secure 35 % marks for UG courses or 40% marks in PG
and post PG courses.
10.2.3 Make-up examinations will be held only after the even semester or at the end of academic
year.
10.2.3.1 The grade boundaries in the make-up examination in any course willbe the same as those
inthe immediate preceding regular end-semester examination for that course.
10.2.3.2 For all students who appear in the end summer semester/make-up examinations, the
grades awarded will be one lower han what they eam as per point no. 10.2.3.] above. However, a
student who secures an E grade willretain the same grade he/she has earned.
10.2.4 A student who repeats an examination in any course, willbe awarded one grade lower than
what he/she ears.

10.4 Grade Moderation Committee
10.4.1 Grade Moderation Committees (GMC) will
be nolified by the HoD, for every class in the
department and marked to the CoE, before the
exams start,
10.4.2 Each GMC will have the HoD os Chaitperson
and allleachers teaching that class as members.
10.4.3 The GMC willsatisy itself that all he guidelines
for the award of grades have been adhered to and
may slightly tweak/modify the grade boundaries
calculated in the fist instance, by taking into
Consideration any natural gopsin the marks. However, marks will notlbe changed.
10.4.4 The moderated grades will be forwarded to the CoE and a copy of the marks and final
grades, along with the statistical parameters used, willbe retained byt,
10.5 Declaration of results
The Controller of Examinations will declare the results after approval by HOS.
10.6 Withholding of results
student is not allowed to appear in the exam if he/she has not paid all his/her dues. The results of
such astudent will be withheld if there is a case of disciplinary action pending against him/her.
10.7 Requirements for Award of degree
student completes the requirements for award of degree if he/she fulfils all the conditions given
below:
10.7.1 Has earned the number of credits specified in the prescribed programmes of study and
cleared all Aucit courses.
10.7.2 Paid allduesto the Institute.
10.7.3 No case of disciplinary action is pending

11. ATTENDANCE
11.1 Students are expected to attend every lecture,
tutorial and practical class scheduled for them,
Attendance willbe recorded for every classin every
course they attend,
11.2 A student with less than 75% attendance in
individual courses shall not be permitted to write the
end semester examination in that course and willbe
given DT letter grade in the course, Attendance of lectures, class tests, practicals aind tutorials, all

11.3 A student should meet the above attendance
requirement, irespective of the number of days
he/she is on medical and/or other leave for any
reason whatsoever. In exceptional circumstances,

given extra assignments, after approval from the
Hos.
114 Attendance of students is recorded and
displayed in the AMS during the semester.
11.5 The names of students who have attendance
shortage, will be intimated by the Course Coordinator through HoD, on the last day of teaching to
the Academic Section, for display on the Notice Board and onward transmission to Ihe CoE
11.6 Students with short attendance are not allowed to appearin the end semester exams.
11,7 The aggregate percentage of attendance of the student during the semester is entered in
his/her grade sheet of that semester.
12. SUMMER SEMESTER
12.1 A summer semester of eight weeks runs every year, only for the Ist year of professional UG
programmes. The number of contact houss per week per course is six to eight, against three to four
per course in the regularsemester.
12.2 Only students with DT grade in any course (ie., short attendance cases) are allowed to register
forthe summersemester.
12.3 A course will un onlyif'a minimum of § students register fori
12.4 Students who have F/I grade may also register for a summer semester course, to improve their
in-semester marks, provided the course is running,
12.5 student can register for only upto 3 theory and

13. CHANGE OF BRANCH
13.1 Students of Blech. are allowed to change their
branch at the end of the first year, on the basis of
academic performance and subject to
departmental student strength constraints. This is a
priviege and not a right, and is awarded on
meritorious performance. Applications for change
‘of branch are calledin April every year and must be
submitted fo Director (Admissions), by the stipulated
date.
13.2 Branch change is made against the vacancies
available at the end of the first year on the basis of merit. A merit list is prepared, based on the
students’ CGPA, after the declaration of second semester result. f two or more students have the
same CGPA, their entrance examination (MU OET) rank/12Ih percentage wil be considered to
break the tie.
13.3 Only students who have passed in all courses of | & Il semesters, without any backlog, are
eligible to apply for change of branch.
13.4Students who have secured free seats are not eligible for branch change.

3.4 ANTI- RAGGING MEASURES
Ban on Ragging
In view of the directions of the Honorable Supreme Court in the matter of "University of Kerala v/s.
Council, Principals, Colleges and others" in SLP no. 24295 of 2006 dated 16.05.2007 and that dated
8.05.2009 in Civil Appeal number 887 of 2009, and in consideration of the determination of the
Central Government and the University Grants Commission to prohibit, prevent and eliminate the
scourge of raging, including any conduct by any student orstudents, whether by words spoken or
written, or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher,
‘Manipal University Jaipur ensures strict compliance on the prevention of Ragging of any form.
‘Measures for prohibition of ragging at the institution level
9} No institution or any part of i thereof, including, but not limited to the schools, the departments,
constituent units, colleges, centers of studies and all its premises, whether academic,
residential, playgrounds, or canteen, whether located within the campus or outside, and in all
means of transportation of students, whether public or private, accessed by students for the
pursvit of studies in such institutions, shall permit or condone any reported incident of ragging in
‘ny form; and all institutions shall take all necessary and reavired measures, including but not
imited to the provisions of these Regulations, to achieve the objective of eliminating raging,

Penalty for Ragging
No person who is student of an educational institution shall commit ragging. The Supreme Court of

satisfactory, the authority would expel him/her from the institution”
Warning
No leniency will be shown to the offenders involved in ragging. All students are requested to note

+ Students must oecupy rooms specifically allotted to them. They are not allowed to change
rooms except with the witten permission of the Chief Warden. However, students desirous of
choosing their own room partners may do so by putting in an application to the chief warden
through the warden. The room change or selection of room partners will be allowed only on
fulfiling of certain hostel ules. The orders of the chief warden in this regard will be final

prescribed time. Students will also forfeit theirroomsif they fail to clear all their hostel dues before:

Generally no refund of fee is permitted on account of withdrawal/absence from the University orfor
otherreasons once a studentis admitted to any programme of study.
1. Arefund claim may, however, be admitted on merits, after due consideration of the request by
the University. I approved, the amount to be refunded shall be as stated below:
(1) Anytime after admission, but before 10 days from the date of commencementof classes:
General Category: Totalfees exciudingregistration fees of Rs. 10000 & processing fees of Rs, 1000.
Foreign/NRICategory: Total feesexcludingregistration fees of USD 300 & processingfees of USD 200.
(ll) There shallbe no refund after the commencement of classes.
(ll) REGISTRATION FEEisnot refundable/ transferrable under any circumstances
2. Any student who withdraws from the programme atter the commencement of classes will be
required toremit fo the University, in addition to the amount already forfeited, the fee payable for
the remaining part of the programme.
3. In case of Foreign/NRI candidates, the refunds will be made in accordance with Foreign
Exchange Regulations as per the prevailing rates of exchange.
4, All refunds will be processed by the Admission Office of the University upon receiving the
approval from the Registrar based on the recommendation from the Director, Admissions.
Requests for withdrawals should be made in the prescribed application form available at the
Admissions Office. Refund will be made only after the candidate has surrendered the ID card,
original fee receipt and the Dues Clearance cerfificate from MU, including that of hostels.

4.4|dentity Cards
Each student willbe issued an identity card by the concemed school. Students are required to cary
the identity card at all times.
Loss of Identity Card: Ifo student for any reason loses his/her ID card, the loss must be brought to the
notice of the School authorities in wring along with the copy of police complaint. A
duplicate/replacement ID card will be issued on payment of Rs. 200/-.
The card will be valid for the regular duration of the programme undertaken by the student. In case
a student has to stay in campus beyond the regular duration of the course for any reason, he/she
willbe required to have the valiaity of the card extended,
4.5 Medical Facilities
Medicare scheme of Rs.1,00,000 applies to all bonafide students of the University for the entire
duration of the course.

These are merit-cum-means scholarships with a cop of two scholarships in each stream, restricted

Number of Scholarships shalibe displayed at the time of common counseling. Students applying for
these scholarships are required to submit copies of their parents’ (both mother and father) Form
16/16A/IIR of the last two years
To continue to get the scholarship, the student should maintain a CGPA of 8.0 or above every
‘academic year, falling which the scholarship for the next years willbe withdrawn.
5.2 TMA Pai Excellence Scholarships for Non-Engineering students.
1. One Scholarship in each programme, with 100% waiver on annual tuition fees, wil be given to
the student with the highest aggregate marksin excess of 90%. in the qualifying exam

5.3 Merit Scholarships for Non-Engineering students

students with the highest aggregate marks in excess of 75%, in 10+2 or in equivalent qualifying

A total 30 scholarships of upto Rs. 1,00,000 each ( not exceeding two in each programme) will be
given fo students from Rajasthan domicile, with the highest aggregate marks in excess of 80% in
10#2 or equivalent qualifying exam. To be eligible, the student should have passed his/her 10th and
10#2 exam froma schoolin Rajasthan.
|. The maximum scholarship given to each student would be capped to the first year fees of the
programme joined, or Rs. 1 Lakh, whicheverislower.

5.5 Merit cum Means Scholarship for TAPMI School of Business Students-MBA
Programme
20scholarships are available for meritorious students with the following eligibility:
(i) Minimum 60% aggregate marksin all exams (10th, 12th and Graduation)
(i) Student should be among the top 20% of the admitied MBA batch for thal academic year
(ii) Annualincome of both parents put together should be less than 7.5 Lacs

5.6.2. Scholarships
Rs 500/- per month will be given to two students, other than those mentioned in 5.6.1 above, from
each of the above mentioned programmes, who have 75% and above aggregate marks. The
scholarship would be continued in later years provided they maintain a minimum CGPA of 7.5
everyyear.
5.7 Teaching Assistantships
Teaching assistantship of Rs. 12,000/- per month willbe available to full ime Ph D scholars, for three
years, along with a contingency amount of Rs. 10,000 every year.
Atewselected MTech Final year students may be awarded teaching assistantship of Rs. 5000/- per
month, based on departmentaineeds.
NOTE: Please note the following in the context of all the above scholarships:
1. A student cannot hold more than one scholarship concurrently from any of the sources or
supporting agency.
2. Scholarships will be given only for the actual/ minimum duration of the programme in which the
studentis enrolled.
3. Applications for scholarships willbe invited from eligible students by 30th September every year.
