Article 1270

Condonation or remission is essentially gratuitous, and requires the acceptance by


the obligor. It may be made expressly or impliedly.
Remission-an act of liberality whereby the creditor waives the enforcement of the
obligation contracted in his favor

An agreement between the creditor and debtor, by virtue of which, the


former spontaneously remits an act of liberality, in whole or in part, the
obligation of the debtor also Bilateral nature of remission is not lost since the
legatee must still acceptthe legacy in order to beeffective>legacy of remission of debts which is logically a unilateral act
