This syllabus outlines an introductory science course covering earth, physical, and life science topics aligned to Nebraska state standards. Over two semesters, students will discuss basic science concepts and the nature of scientific inquiry while learning about the particulate nature of matter, forces and motion, energy systems, living organisms, heredity, populations and ecosystems, Earth's structure and systems. Course grades will be based on homework, quizzes, tests, labs, projects, and current events assignments, with deductions for late work.

Instructor: Mrs. Landstrom Text: Integrated Curriculum Email: jayleen.landstrom@whfalcons.org Course Description: This is a two-semester course that will cover entry level earth, physical, and life science topics. We will discuss basic science topics and what it means to be a scientist along with topics over all areas of science. Course Curriculum Aligned to Nebraska State Content Standards: SC8.2.1 Students will identify and describe the particulate nature of matter including physical and chemical interactions. SC8.2.2 Students will investigate and describe forces and motion. SC8.2.3 Students will identify and describe how energy systems and matter interact. SC8.3.1 Students will investigate and describe the structure and function of living organisms. SC8.3.2 Students will investigate and describe the relationship between reproduction and heredity SC8.3.3 Students will describe populations and ecosystems. SC8.3.4 Students will identify characteristics of organisms that help them survive. SC8.4.1 Students will investigate and describe Earth and the solar system. SC8.4.2 Students will investigate and describe Earths structure, systems, and processes. SC8.4.3 Students will investigate and describe energy in Earths systems. SC8.4.4 Students will use evidence to draw conclusions about changes in Earth.
