First, I want to talk about some facts about this book.

It was published in 1964, is a

children's book written and illustrated by Shel Silverstein. This book has become
one of the most famous of Silverstein and it has been translated into more than 30
languages.
The Giving Tree tells the story of a relationship between a boy and a tree, Since
very small the boy spoke with the tree and she (the tree) was happy. The tree
always gives to the child everything he wants: branches of which hung, shade
under which to sit, apples to eat, branches to build a house. The tree does all this
because it is happy doing this. As the child grows, he needs more things for living,
and the tree gives all.
The ultimate gift, is when the tree lets the boy cut it down so that he can build a
boat that can sail. The boy leaves the tree. Many years later, the boy, who is now
an old man, come back.
The last thing that the man asks to the tree, was when he needed a quiet place to
sit and rest, and as always the tree was happy.
I think this story is a little sad, and I interpret to understand the importance of the
resources of our planet, which we must take care for future generations.
