Long Stay Older Patients (LSOP)

This project was undertaken on behalf of (then) Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA). The aim
was to ensure the appropriateness of funding allocation across all jurisdictions for Long Stay Older
Patients in public hospitals. The task was to conduct a national census of Long Stay Older Patients
(LSOP) across public hospitals for 2011 2012. This was repeated in 2012-13 to obtain data over two
consecutive years. The project required technical expertise and skillful engagement of jurisdictions in
order to reach consensus. A report was prepared to inform funding allocation calculations for the
States and Territories.

Review of the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety (ARPANS) Act 1998
The purpose of this project was to review the ARPANS Act by consulting with stakeholders in each
jurisdiction to identify sections in the Act that need to be amended so that it was current,
appropriate and aligned with international standards, community expectations and Department of
Health and Ageing expectations. Conducted over a three month period, the project required
extensive stakeholder engagement with diverse individuals and organisations involved in nuclear
radiation sector, and technical review of the ARPANSA Act.
