Teach Our Children and Youth UnleashED's Freedom Summer New Haven, brings together parents, youth, educators, faith and community leaders committed to parent, youth and community leadership, campaign development, civic engagement activities and programs that engage both parents and youth leaders in the efforts towards improving education and their community, while developing themselves and their capacity to become agents of change. Teach Our Children and Youth UnleashED is an intergenerational organization that strives to ensure parents, youth and marginalized communities are authentically engaged within educational school reform decision-making processes throughout the New Haven school district.

    Keynote Speaker: Brittany Packnett


    Ms. Packnett is the daughter of educators and currently serves as executive director
    for Teach for America in St. Louis. She is also a Black Lives Matter activist that serves
    on the Ferguson Commission; an empowered, independent and diverse group that
    will study the underlying social and economic conditions underscored by the unrest in
    the wake of the death of Michael Brown..

    Immediately following the Freedom Unity Walk:

    Activities include: On-site Voter Education & Registration, Local Youth, Parent and Community
    Speakers & Presentations, Welcome by Elected Officials , Celebrating First -Generation College
    Bound Students, Celebrate Educators, Celebrate Back to School & Stay in School and Call to Action
