Students today are using digital media to connect in ways

never before imagined. This is both a blessing and a curse.
School districts are dealing with negative interactions and/or
inappropriate usage like cyberbullying, digital cheating, or
safety and security concerns. These issues sometimes get in
the way of student learning. Teachers and students should be
aware of and understand digital literacy and citizenship skills.
Digital media today does determine many aspects of our
future beyond this moment in time of posting, tagging, and
chatting.

During this session we will tackle 2 major components:

Forethought and Aware. Begin the year right by getting your
online planner set up with ease. Then tackle Aware by
learning ways to pull data reports based on specific needs.
Did we do anything yesterday? Is this for a grade? When
is this due?
Do these student questions aggravate you because you
thought you had made the expectations clear? This session
focuses on strategies to make students accountable for their
own learning, their own expectations, and their own planning.
Participants can expect to share and hear best practices and
strategies that are student focused instead of teacher
focused.

Need some new strategies to engage students in productive

discussion? Using the World Caf strategy, well explore a
variety of discussion strategies to energize your classroom
and involve all students.
