    Foundation Settlement
    1.1. For evaluation of tank / foundation settlement, reference may be made to API 653 Appendix "B".
    Referring to section B.2.2 and considering the effect on the tank only (i.e. excluding piping, etc.).
    - Uniform settlement as per B.2.2.1
    - Planar tilt as per B.2.2.2 unless the degree of tilt is unusually high
    - Out of plane settlement as in B.2.2.3, with the type of slab foundation used for these tanks, is likely only
    in case of gross deformation of the slab.
    1.2. A further reference, to be taken with a proper safety margin, can be found into API 650 11th Ed.
    Para 7.3.6.6, here below quoted: 7.3.6.6 If settlement measurements are specified by the
    Purchaser, any differential settlement greater than 13 mm per 10 m (1/2 in. per 32 ft) of
    circumference or a uniform settlement over 50 mm (2 in.) shall be reported to the Purchaser for
    evaluation.
