A Golf Tournament with a Mission.
In IL years, the Howard H. Belkin memorial Golf
Tournament has raised approximately $320,000 for
breast cancer education and research in Connecticut.
Every year, the CT Breast Initiative remembers its founding chairman Howard H.
Belkin for his spirit and unwavering desire to find a cure for breast cancer, Howard
was a local attomey, State of CT Worker’s Compensation Commissioner, political
activist, husband, father, grandfather, joke teller extraordinaire and avid golfer. It
was his dream to use his love of golf to raise monies for the statewide work of the
CT Breast Initiative, Inc. by creating an annual tournament at the Shuttle Meadow
Country Club, on his favorite golf course.
The Shuttle Meadow Golf Course, designed by renowned architect and twice
British Open Champion, Willie Park Jr., was recognized by Golfweek Magazine as
one of America’s 2014 best classic courses. Achieving national recognition among
America’s elite golf courses is a tribute to the unique qualities of this historic course

The Connecticut Breast Health Initiative has one goal. One desire. To help find a cure
for breast cancer in our lifetime.
Connecticut is ranked 2nd in the nation in breast cancer incidence rate. For a small
state, that is a huge challenge
That is why we have focused all of our considerable energy and resources on education
and research... funding forward-thinking programs that have yet to qualify for federal
grants.
And we are doing it where it matters most... right here at home.
