designed economic and financial models to help small and big farmers trade their banano and cocoa while
earning better prices. His areas of expertise include markets access, coordinating, cluster development
Projects, consulting grants management and helping certifying a wide variety of products under ISOS, social,
environmental and fair trade standards. C&D is also responsible for the overall results in most of the projects
in the organization. In the private sector Conservacion y Desarrollo has vast experience in areas such as
telecommunication, industry, agriculture, real estate, tourism and financing. His constant search for
opportunities has let him participate in many projects that have increased his ability to understand the
Ecuadorian and International market and its processes.
Conservacion y Desarrollo has lead developed and applied Business Clusters collaborative team approaches
to allow businesses, regions and interest groups to develop greater speed, quality, innovation and critical
mass. This assists in resolving practical issues like, grants management, training, infrastructure and
procurement. Conservacion y Desarrollo has collaborated for many years with credit and financial
institutions working particularly with micro credits to communities projects, focused in Fiduciary systems
with Citigroup foundation, Citigroup – Produbanco - Ecologic Fund and Overbrook Foundation in Ecuador,
raising working capital for the less-favored and less organized sectors of the Ecuadorian productive sector.
Conservación & Desarrollo worked very closely in the cocoa cluster since January 2004 with ARD
PRONORTE, a project designed and executed by ARD Inc. funded by USAID, at the Northern boarder of
Ecuador. The objective of this project was mainly to generate and improve employee and incomes for the
Ecuadorian Northern Boarder small farmers. C&D began important and decisive consultancy subcontracts,
some of them were: Creation, Adaptation and Edition of the “Farmer Field School Manual”, as soon as the
manual was approved, C&D signed a new subcontract with ARD Pronorte to execute the methodology in the
field, that way under his direction the Farmer Field School started showing pretty soon it´s success with the
cocoa farmers located in the provinces of Esmeraldas at the Coast, Orellana and Sucumbios located at the
Amazon region, under this methodology approximately 7363 farmers were trained under the cocoa cluster
team.
