We have lost a great person, with the demise of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam.

His
endeavor in inspiring the youth of the country reminds me the following incident.
I had the fortune of attending International Conference on Physics Education at
Delhi in 2005. It was inaugurated by the then president Dr A P J Abdul Kalam. He
generated awesome delight amongst the diverse international audience. He
spoke passionately about the missile program, space program, hovercrafts and
also about the significance of participation of the youth in the nation building
work. After his address, Horst Stormer, Nobel Laureate from Columbia University
who presided over the program, jokingly mentioned that in India the president
speaks of the technology of Hovercrafts and so on while in US, the president
doesnt even know what a hovercraft is !
I was one of the luckiest people on that day. I was allowed a question to Dr
Kalam. I asked Sir, I am teacher. How can I help my students dream big? His
answer is still resonating in my mind. He said You dream big! Your students will
follow you
May his soul find the eternal peace.
