PLASMA MONITOR CHASSIS : RF-052A MODEL : 42PM1M 42PM1M-TA CAUTION BEFORE SERVICING THE CHASSIS, READ THE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS IN THIS MANUAL. CONTENTS SAFETY PRECAUTIONS ... DESCRIPTION OF CONTROLS SPECIFICATIONS. ADJUSTMENT INSTRUCTIONS .. TROUBLE SHOOTING GUIDE... PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD BLOCK DIAGRAM. EXPLODED VIEW. EXPLODED VIEW PARTS LIST REPLACEMENT PARTS LIST. SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM... SAFETY PRECAUTIONS IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE Many electrical end mecharical parts in this chassis have special safety-related characteristics. These paris ae identified by Ain the Schematic Dagram and Replacament Parts List Itis essentia that these spacial safety parts should be replaced with the sarme components as recornmendad in this manval to prevent X-RADIATION, Shock Fire, or other Hazards Bo not madify the original design without pormission of manufactur. General Guidance An isolation Transformer should always be used during the servicing of a rocoiver whose chassis is rot solated from the AC powerline. Use a transformer of adequate power ratirg ‘as ths protects the technician from acciaents resulting in personal inury fram electrical shocks. It will also protect the receiver and i's components from being ‘damaged By accidental shorts of the cireutvy that may be inadvertently introduced during the service operation If any fuse (or FusibioResiston in this monitor is blown, replace it with the specitieg When replacing a high wattage resistor [Oxide Metal Film Resistor, over IW keep the resistor Torn away from PCB, Koen wires away from high voltage orhigh temperature parts Due to high vacuum and large surface ares of picture tube, ‘extreme care should be used in handling the Picture Tube, De nat lift the Picture tube by i's Neck, Leakage Current Cold Check\Antenna Cold Check) With tho insiumont AC plug removed from AC source, connect an electrical jumper across the two AC plug prongs Place the AC switch in the on position, connect one lead of ‘hmrmeter to the AC plug arongs ted together and touch other ‘fmrmeter lead in tum to each exposed metalic parts such as antenna terminals, phone jacks, etc If the exposed metalic part has a return path tothe chassis, the meastzed resistance shouls be between IMA and 52a. "When the exposed metal has no retun path tothe chassis the foading ust be infinite. An other abnormality exists that must be corrected before the receivers retured to the customer. Leakage Current Hot Check (See below Figure) Plug the AC cord irectly into the AC outlet. Do not use a line Isolation Transformer during this check. Connect 18¢/rOwatt resistor in parallel with a OTSUF capacitor between a known good earth ground (Water Pipe, Condut, ete) {and the exposed metalic paris Measure the AC voltage across the resistor using AC. voltmeter with 1000 otms/volt or more sensitivity. Reverse plug the AC cora into the AC outlet and repeat AC voltage measurements for each exposed metalic part. Any voltage measured must not exceed 0.75 volt RMS which is corresponds to 05mA. Incase any measurement is out ofthe levts specifi, there is possibilty of shock hazard and the set must be checked ard Fepaired before itis returned to the customer.
