Asthma is thought to be caused by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. It is a very common diseases. Mostly it is due to air pollution It
is a disease.
Symptoms of Asthma Asthma
can be characterized by wheezing,
shortness of breathe, chest tightness, and coughing.
Symptoms
are usually worse at night and in the
early morning or in response to exercise or cold air.
Prevention The
evidence for the effectiveness of
measures to prevent the development of asthma is weak. Reducing or eliminating compounds known to sensitive people from the work place may be effective
How to cure it?
Short-acting beta2-adrenoceptor agonists (SABA), such
as salbutamol are the first line treatment for asthma symptoms. They are recommended before exercise in those with exercise induced symptons. LABA (long acting beta adenocepter ) such as salmeterol and formoterol can improve asthma control, at least in adults. In children this benefit is uncertain. When used without steroids they increase the risk of severe side-effects. Mast cell stabilizers (such as cromolyn sodium) are another non-preferred alternative to asthma.
