LETTER OF RECOMMENDATION FOR MATT TALLENT
I have known Matt for over two years in my capacity as his academic advisor and his
teacher in three courses. I met Matt in his freshman year when he enrolled in my Elements of
Planning course. A Physics/Engineering student at that time, it became evident in our discussions
that he had an interest in a broad range of topics from geography and planning to environmental
studies. Matt would eventually declare an Environmental Geoscience major but has taken a wide
spectrum of courses in all aspects of resource management, conservation and environmental
planning. Matt is a strong student academically and has a natural aptitude for the environmental
field. He has been a pleasure to have in my classes as he is enthusiastic, inquisitive and easily
grasps the concepts presented in lecture. He is now at the point in his academic career where he
would like to start applying his knowledge in either an internship or to be involved in projects
where he would gain a better understanding of the role of research in the protection and
sustainability of the environment. An internship at the Philadelphia Zoo would expose him to
such research but more specifically it would illustrate how research can also promote
conservation something Matt is particularly interested in.
Matt displays excellent written, verbal and organizational skills. He has taken skill
courses in Technical Writing, Public Speaking and Geographic Information Systems utilizing
ARCGIS 10.2
It has been a pleasure to see Matts interest evolve over the last few years and his
motivation to gain additional experience outside of the classroom. Personally I find Matt to be
mature, responsible, honest, courteous and conscientious. He takes direction and works well
independently but is also a team player. He is well liked by his peers and fellow students.
I have no hesitation in providing this recommendation. Should you require any additional
information, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,

Sandra J. Kehoe-Forutan
