Mrs. MacPherson 7th Grade Language Arts 2014-2015 School Year Welcome to Thunder Hawk Language Arts Class! My name is Mrs. MacPherson and | look forward to working with you this, school year, Itis my goal to ensure that you are prepared for future grades and the world beyond. | want you to leave my class as a stronger wniter, reader and speaker, but | also want you to leave with an open mind, a positive attitude and the confidence ta reach your best potential Guide for Being Successful in 7th Grade Language Arts: 1. Attendance: Regular class attendance Is critical because to be successful, you need to be in class! If you are absent for any reason (iness, family, activities, etc.) itis your responsibilty to see me and get the work you missed, Also, check the “Been Absent” bin for handouts and resources. 2. Coming to class on Time and Prepared- Students are expected to be in their seats when the bell rings, and have their planner, binder, pen/ pencil and silent reading book every single day. Your planner is an important organizational too! to write down the weekly assignments, day's agenda, homework and upcoming projects. You should copy this information down when you arrive to class. ays Listen and Track the Speeker- Everyone wants to be heard, but only one person may speak at a time, Reach out to classmates in discussions, be an active listener and participant. 4, Respectina Others- You are responsible for your words and actions. Treat others with respects and kindness and it will be returned, Any inappropriate behavier will result in reflection time, removal from class and a written referral. Excessive disruptive behavior, violent behavior, or blatant cisrespect will result in a detention, office visit, or suspension. Required Materia's: Planner, One subject notebook, Pen, Pencils, Kleene, Binder flied with college ruled paper, highlighter, glue stick and black sharpie. Email: emacoherson@ttsd.k1 2.or.us Homework: There will we about 20-30 minutes. ‘Typically there is speling or vocabulary ‘on Monday, comprehension on Tuesday, projects con Wednesday and studying for quizzes and tests Con Thursdays Homework is rarely given on the weekends, but 30 minutes, 3X's a week is recommended, Grading Grades are based on a point system and percentages. Students who turn in work late wilt receive a point deduction, A zero is placed in the Gradebook ifthe assignment is never submitted, Check your grades weekly on Studentvue in Synergy.
