World Environment Day

In this modern world,news of the air pollution index rising way past the danger
level,the melting of ice bergs which in turn leads to floods and landslides that
sacrifice the lives of hundreds of innocents are often splashed across the
headlines of major newspapers both inside and outside our country. The number
of landfills being opened has increased drastically and if nothing is done to
handle this problem,soon the entire earth would be covered with rubbish.
Thankfully,many have realized the importance of taking drastic and effective
actions to overcome these problems. World Environment Day happens to be one
of those effective actions and it falls on June the 5 th annually. On this day, many
campaigns are held to teach them the ways to reduce pollution and make Earth a
more beautiful place and to remind the citizens and every individual that they
can play their part every day in reducing their carbon footprints.
One of the ways to reduce the pollution of environment is by practising the
3Rs;Reuse,Reduce and Recycle. Creative and fun ways should be used to reduce
the amount of rubbish produced daily. For example,parents should teach their
children how to convert an old plastic bottle into a cute pencil holder by
decorating it with ribbons and such. Another way is by avoiding disposable
products such as plastic bottles and instead use recyclable products such as
glass bottles. By doing so, the amount of space occupied by the rubbish will be
greatly reduced and the pests as well as pollution caused by said rubbish will
