MATH 202 Vector Calculus

Required text: Vector Calculus, Marsden & Tromba, 6th Edition.
Course outline: The topics include vector-valued functions, higher-order derivatives, maxima and minima of functions of several variables, integrals over paths and
surfaces, vector analysis. We will cover chapters 1-8 from the textbook.
Timing of Exams: There will be three in-class exams and one final exam. Dates
for in-class exams are: Wednesday October 7, Wednesday November 4,
Wednesday December 9. The exam with the lowest score is dropped: only
two of these in-class exams will count towards your final grade. The Final Exam is
scheduled for December ?
Homework and quizzes: The homework is assigned from the textbook. There
will be in class quizzes from the homework.
Grading scheme: 50% from two in-class exams; 10% from quizzes, and 40%
from the final exam.
Exams policy: The use of calculators during exams is not allowed. No open text
will be allowed during any exam. All explanations in your test papers must be
given.
