Course Overview: US History A is an overview of American
History focusing on post Civil War Reconstruction (1865)
though the Great Depression (1940).
Expected Student Learning Outcomes:
I can integrate information from diverse sources, both
primary and secondary, into a coherent understanding of an
idea or event noting discrepancies among sources.
I can cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of
primary and secondary sources.
I can connect insights gained from specific details to an
understanding of the text as a whole.
Grading Policy: Class Grades will be determined using the
following formula Homework = 60% Unit Tests = 40%.
Final Semester Grades will be determined by the following
formulaClass Grade = 80% Final Exam = 20%
Textbook and Course Materials: Each student should
have a 3 ring binder, or a notebook and folder just for US
History. The Textbook we use is American Anthem: Modern
American History published by Holt. The online text can be
found at: http://my.hrw.com/
