Summary

The server room is the mind or brain of our company so we must treat the server room with
special care and consideration. It is important to have at least a secure and efficient server
room. Server room design must minimize single points of failure and offer predictable uptime by
incorporating concurrent maintainability and fault-tolerance against failures in which a
component must be replaced.
Objective
The objective of the project is to bring the Willis Malaysia Sdn Bhd server room up to acceptable
standards in the area of adequate space, server equipment racks and spacing, power and
electrical standards, cooling and an organize network cabling. The immediate benefits to
upgrading the server room will be realized in optimal performance from infrastructure enterprise
systems not overheating, significantly reduced maintenance and troubleshooting times,
equipment protection from inadequate power and reduced replacement cost of faulty
equipment. The long term benefits will be realized in an increased ability to expand equipment
installation with new technology, lower equipment failure rates which directly reflect in lower cost
of ownership and longevity of system life cycle.

Scope of Work
The project will require a detailed site survey by potential vendors to identify the most cost
effective and efficient means to accomplish the following:

Reorganize network appliances and cabling.

Provide and replace an additional 42U server rack.
Move server to the new rack.
Replace aging UPS system.

The Risk
During the project implementation, Willis Malaysia network will be down and this is including
mail system and all internal networks. In order to minimize business impact, and decrease
required time during off hours to integrate the new structured, all works will be done during
weekend or after office hour.
