Dear Parents,
My 3rd graders and I are approaching the Mid Chapter Review for
Chapter 1 in
Go Math. We have practiced concepts and I am sending a paper for
them to work on over the weekend. Normally I do not do this, but I
want the ideas to remain fresh for on Monday.
I want to go over some Definitions really quick to help the children
remember.
1.) Commutative Property: 2+3=3+2
(Which Means when adding you can flip flop numbers and they come
to the same answer.)
2.) Compatible numbers: 2 numbers that equal 10 (5+5, 6+4, 2+8,
ect)
3.) Identity Property: any number plus Zero = the other number.
I taught them that identity is how we look, so pretend the 0 is a mirror.
5+0 (the 5 looks at the mirror and sees itself) so 5+0=5
4.) Pattern: 112112112112

For problems 3-5 solve and then write odd or even

For problems 6-8 Add, then round the two numbers you add together,
then solve.
For Problems 9-11 Just line them up (up and down) the book messed up
and accidently wrote a + instead of = at the end of each problem.
For problems 12-15: Add then round the answer.
On the back they have multi stage problems (add two then subtract
that answer by another) Others are just one step.

They do Not have to return this. It is merely to help keep things fresh.
Thank you for all that you do.
Sincerely,

Aaron J. Spencer
