What the hell do you think you are doing acomponent of the course.

For most of you, this class may refresh

your experience with chemistry in high school, and for some, a brand new introduction. Your instructor, the staff,
and I wish each of you the best for the coming semester and the academic year. We are here to help you do your best
to learn, understand, and achieve in GenChem. We urge you to utilize all available resources to attain your goals:
printed course materials, Blackboard (Bb), your colleagues, your instructor, etc. Make full use of your time in
recitation and lab: come with questions, listen to the dialogue, be a participant. Experience has taught that students
fare well when they kept pace with lecture and came prepared for lab. In doing so, learning was easier and stress was
minimized. These are some suggestions for your success. Again, we welcome each of you, and look forward in
helping you achieve and maximize your potential.
Learning Goals
Coherent with your lecture course, this class aims to provide a foundation in Chemistry, specific to the laboratory
experience. Where the lecture introduces, explores, and expands concepts, through a dialogue with your lecture
professor; the laboratory is where you are the active participant: performing experiments, collecting data, analyzing
data, and conveying your findings through written reports. The lecture and the lab act in concert, in synergy, where
you achieve a holistic understanding of Chemistry, of science. This is the scientific process idea, testing,
refinement, understanding/discovery. This is what scientists do, this is what your professor does. All these aspects
embody the knowledge and the skills you are expected to learn and master on finishing your year of GenChem. You
will set foot, move forward, and complete your journey with given
