Evaluation Criteria (Learning Target or Student Will Be Able To)


1. Conduct research about poverty and perspectives using technology and other
sources and synthesize information in a well written 5-7 page paper.
2. Use research to create a presentation and Youtube video proposing an action
plan to eradicate global poverty.
3. Discussions on poverty from an interdisciplinary and global perspective
including economics, history, politics, etc. of different countries.
4. Collaboratively create activities that simulate conditions of poverty based on a
class generated rubric.
1. Content of MLA style research paper contains required elements indicated on
rubric and represents an understanding of the culture of poverty and the
effect of perspectives and individual countries history and policies on the
eradication of poverty.
2. Youtube video meets standards for action plan for eradicating global poverty.
3. Simulated activities meet standards of rubric and reflect an understanding of
the characteristics of poverty.
4. Log of various media sources and technology used to gather information
from individuals related to research on poverty in selected country is evidence
of required communications.

Stage 3 Learning Plan


Summary of Key Learning Events and Instruction ( Make this a useful outline or summary of your unit, your daily lesson
plans will be separate)
Week One: Students will define poverty and examine characteristics of the culture of poverty in various countries. Students
will share information to determine common characteristics among countries and will create survey for collecting data to
examine the perspectives of poverty in selected country.
Week Two: Students will collect research using technology (ePals, videoconferencing, etc.) to communicate with persons in
selected countries and use various media sources to examine perspectives on poverty. Students will study the impact of
perspectives on eradicating poverty using survey tool.
