The microstructure and tensile properties of the composites were inves- tigated. The results show that the disperse homogenization of a~Alz03 micro powders modified by Y20 is improved obviously in the 6061 aluminum liquid and tensile properties are increased obviously. In the ‘composite with 25% volume fraction of AlaOs, the tensile strength increases by 30%, the yield strength increases by 40% and the elastic modulus increases by 20%. It can be suggested that the improvement of the interface wettability is due to the interfaces reaction between Y,O3 and Al matrix and the formation of good bonding interfaces of the Y2Al phase with Al,Os particles and aluminum matrix.
