Even in an age when most women go out to work, many of them full-time, they still

find themselves doing most of the chores. Research shows that mothers spend, on average,
three hours a day doing housework, cooking, whereas fathers spend just 45 minutes. Men still
expects women to do the housework. Most men do things around the house, but they act as
though they are doing their partner a favour. They say things like: Ive done the washing-up for
you.
Housework is so important that couples should discuss along with all the other big issues
when they first decide whether to marry or not. Men give all sort of excuses for not doing
housework: I work long hours and I dont think my wifes work is a stressful as mine. or : I
would do more, but shes so much better doing it than me. But what a man really means by this
is that he feels his job is ultimately more important than his partners.
