Dear Parents,

The school year is beginning. With it comes the excitement of the first day of
class, meeting new friends, and playing with them at the recess! Your child is
also beginning the exciting experience of learning a foreign language!
During this first month, your child will be very busy learning about the
classroom, the color red and circles and at the same time, developing critical
thinking and learning skills.
Your child will learn:
1. To introduce himself/herself and to greet others.
2. To name several classroom objects (glue, crayon, paper, door, chair,
table).
3. To identify and name color red.
4. To ask permission and make courteous requests.
5. To identify, trace and color circles.
6. To follow instructions.
7. To make a door project.
8. The value of being neat.
Your child will also learn to communicate with such language as:
1. Its a _________________.
2. Verb forms in the simple present.
3. The preposition on.
You may wish to help your child make progress by doing the following:
1. Encourage the child to tell you his or her name.
(My name is ________________).
2. Use greetings and farewells. (Hello! Good-bye!).
3. Ask your child to trace circles. (Please trace a circle).
4. Ask your child to color a circle red. (Please color the circle red).
5. Ask your child to put things on the table. (Please put the crayon on the
table).
Your child will have and audio CD of songs and chants from class and will be
eager to share them with you and tell you what the words mean. I hope you
enjoy this!
Good luck and thank you for your support. Together we can help your child get
the most out of English class.
Sincerely,
Miss Martha.
