Sugar Wasted
Allie Broshs The God of Cake is a story about a child who will stop at nothing to
eat a cake baked for her grandpas birthday. This was the most magnificent cake she
had ever seen and after one taste there was nothing that would stop her from getting
more. It was lathered in frosting with animals made out of marshmallows held together
with toothpicks and to a 4 years old child, this was a thing of endless possibilities. Her
mom did everything she could to keep this cake as far away from her daughter as
possible because she knew what the results would be after her daughter had some
sugar. When they arrived at her grandparents house, she was smothered with
Grandmas kisses and mom took this opportunity to hide the cake in a locked room
where she would not access it. She threw a tantrum in hopes to escape from her
grandma and find time to figure out how to get to the cake, but this only landed her in
the patio to settle down. She pressed her face against the glass and tried to gain their
pity and she was told to stop and play in the yard. As she walks to the yard, she sees
an open window and lucky enough, this was the window to the cake. Mom noticed that it
was too quiet and knew something was wrong. She searched the house and found her
daughter in the room with all the cake gone.
