Evaporation is the process by which water is converted

from its liquid form to its vapor form and thus transferred
from land and water masses to the atmosphere.
Evaporation from the oceans accounts for 80% of the
water delivered as precipitation, with the balance
occurring on land, inland waters and plant surfaces.
Condensation is the change of water from its gaseous
form into liquid water. Condensation generally occurs in
the atmosphere when warm air rises, cools and looses its
capacity to hold water vapor. As a result, excess water
vapor condenses to form cloud droplets.
Transpiration is the process by which moisture is carried
through plants from roots to small pores on the underside
of leaves, where it changes to vapor and is released to
the atmosphere. Transpiration is essentially evaporation
of water from plant leaves.
Precipitation is water released from clouds in the form of
rain, freezing rain, sleet, snow, or hail. It is the primary
connection in the water cycle that provides for the
delivery of atmospheric water to the Earth. Most
precipitation falls as rain.
