David Wilson

David Wilson is a director who directs many things such as commercials

and installations. Although he directs many things he is well known
primarily for the music videos that he directs, He directs videos for many
different bands and artists big and small, for example he has directed a
video for the Arctic monkeys and Tame impala. He is based in both LA
and London making videos for artists from both countries.

For the videos that he creates he likes to use animation and live action,
but he also likes to mix the two techniques together to make a unique and
weird video that will be seen nowhere else. The videos he makes are
either weird and unique or serious, for example he made a video for sia's
song titanium that was a very serious live action, where as he made a
video for tame impala that was a very weird animation.

He has won many awards for the videos that he has made, in fact most
the videos that he has made for artists has won him an award for their
uniqueness or for just how well done they have been done.

None of his videos have a live performance in them, they are all narrative
driven or concept based, e.g. the video he did for the arctic monkeys was
concept based demonstrating a different editing style. When he does a
narrative driven video it is usually throughout the hole video and is a
mixture of live action and animation that link in together to tell the story
and interchange throughout. The narrative has a connection to the lyrics
of the song. Also the artist is not present in any of the videos.

I like this editing style because it is different, unique and doesnt stick to a
common theme for each of the videos, each video is completely different.
I like that it is a mixture of live action and animation this way of making
videos makes it stand out from other videos. Also I like how weird some of
the videos are he makes I think that this also make his videos stand out as
allot of other videos try to be really serious, He does have some serious
videos but a majority are not.
