Lesson
Probieren Sie mal!
Try it on!
SUMMARY OF GRAMMAR
Note the following:
1. The verb: the imperative mood
The imperative is used to request or tell someone to do something. When
addressing someone in the polite form as Sie, the verb ending does not
change. In a command, the verb is the first element, as it is in a simple
question.
Probieren Sie das Tuch!
2. The particle mal
mal makes the tone of a request or demand friendlier:
Probieren Sie mal das Tuch!
3. Personal pronouns
es = the third person singular (neuter). A neuter noun, i. e. a noun preceded
by the article das, can be replaced by the personal pronounes.
Das Tuch | ist chic. Ichnehme | das Buch.
Es ist chic. Ich nehme | es.
