POW

Paragraph Of the Week

What is it? ~ This year in Language Arts we will begin with
POW (paragraph a week) writing. Paragraph a week is a weekly
assignment that will be given out each Monday and is due Friday.

What Will I be writing? ~ POW assignments will be about

all different things! It could be a news story, opinion, narrative,
explanation, etc.

What do I have to do? ~

You will have to develop a topic into a detailed paragraph. You will be
using one notebook that will be your journal.. On Monday you will be
using the left page of your journal to brainstorm ideas and develop
your rough copy. The right side is for your finished paragraph.

Is this Graded? ~ POW assignments will be marked using

the rubric attached.

Can I do this in class? ~ Time will be given to work on

the rough copy during class, however, POW does need to be completed
at home. We will be working on activities that go along with the POW
each week in class.
