1. Use a comma when there is a conjunction (and, but, then, etc.

) that connects two


phrases that can be sentences by themselves.
Ex: I am the sun, and he can go suck it.
2. Then is for chronological events. Than is for comparisons.
Ex: What if you shape your life around it and then it falls apart?
Ex: I have been playing this game longer than you at a much higher level.
3. Their = someones possession
Ex: I cant help but think about how many of their own citizens theyve
treated like lab rats in the name of science.

Ex: There are worse first words.
Theyre = they are (Easiest to spot when writing by separating it into they are
in your head)
Ex: Theyre so cute when theyre blindfolded Theyre even cuter when they
bob.
4. When you have a descriptive action phrase at the beginning of your sentence,
the subject (AKA the 1st noun you write after the phrase) should match the action.

5. Dont compare apples to oranges.

6. Comparisons: When youre comparing between two people, use adjectives that
mean more or less, not most and least.

Use adjectives meaning most and least for comparisons among 3 or more
people.

12. Me doing something vs my doing something


13. bigger than I, not bigger than me
