Charlotte/Mint Hill/Matthews are in the
Piedmont
Natural Resources: Many kinds of minerals
(used for building such as slate, granite,
quartz) and GOLD
Red clay, hilly and rocky terrain make it
difficult to farm

Piedmont Region

Commerce, Research Triangle (consists
of Duke, UNC, and NC State)
Research Triangle has attracted
international high technology
corporations and has fueled an
economic and population boom in that
area
Charlotte is the 2nd largest banking city
in the United States only behind New
York City

Coastal Plains
Fertile soil, flat land= great for farming
Many rivers run through this
region/plenty of water

Eastern most region of NC
Include the Outer Banks
Borders the Atlantic Ocean
