MasterofTeachinginSecondaryEducationpreserviceteacherscanbeexpectedtodisplayinterestinteachingasacareer,awarenessofpersonal
relationsinteachingandaninquiringattitudetoteachingandlearning.Therearethreedomains,ProfessionalKnowledge,ProfessionalPracticeand
ProfessionalEngagementalongsidesevencorestandardsthatweaskyoutoreflectandwriteuponwhenprovidingfeedbacktopreserviceteachers.
ThecriteriainthereportarederivedfromtheAustralianInstituteforTeachingandSchoolLeadership(AITSL)NationalGraduateTeacher
Standards.AcopyoftheStandardscanbefoundathttp://www.aitsl.edu.au/verve/_resources/Accreditation_of_initial_teacher_education_file.pdf.
Thisreportshouldbecompletedinconsultationwiththepreserviceteacherandotherrelevantcolleagues.AbriefcommentforeachmainStandard
willbesufficient.Mentorteachersareencouragedtodescribespecificachievements,identifyareasofconcernandmakerecommendationsfor
futuredevelopment.
Preserviceteachersareexpectedtokeepajournalcontainingreflections,evaluationsandthoughtsaboutthisProjectPartnershipwork.These
becomeexamplesandevidenceofhowtheymeeteachofthesevencorestandardsofteaching.Thisevidenceshouldbesharedwiththementor
teacherpriortothecompletionofthisreport.

Jessicahasjustcompletedher6weekteachingblockatVUSCandwithoutdoubtshehasbeenoneoftheoutstandingstudentteachersto
workatVUSCinmytimehere.JessicahasafantasticrapportwithbothstaffandstudentsandinthetimethatJessicawashere,shebecame
agreatrolemodelforthestudentsshetaught.Jessicawasalwaysthoroughlypreparedforeveryclassandlessonwasclearlystructuredand
cateredforallabilitylevels.Jessicaimmersedherselfinthecollegelife.Jessicaattendedsportsdaysasbothanofficialandasacoach,she
assistedin2Athleticcarnivalsandthemostpleasingpartofherteachingroundswasthatshebecamearealrolemodeltomanyofour
femaleathletes.JessicawouldoftencomeinbeforeschooltoworkwithourstudentsinourAthleteDevelopmentprogramandjustseeingthe
studentsinteractwithher,theteachingstaffhereknewthatJessicaisanoutstandingteacher.Jessicataughtbothpracticalandtheoretical
PEandherknowledgeofallcontentareaswasoutstanding.Jessicainmyopinionwillmakeanoutstandingteacheranditwouldbeour
schoolsgainifshewastofinishupteachinghereonapermanentbasis.
PRESERVICETEACHER'SREFLECTIVERESPONSE
DuringmytimeatVictoriaUniversitySecondaryCollegeIfeelthatIhavebeengivenanabundanceamountofopportunities,toolsand
strategiestodevelopasbothateacherandasalearner.HavingbeengiventheopportunitytocompletemyteachingroundsatVUSC,the
handsonexperienceIgainedallowedmytoapplywhatIhadlearntatuniversityintoreallifescenarioswhilstalsolearningnewstrategies
inrespondingtodifferentiatingsituationsbothinsideandoutsidetheclassroomandalsolearninghowbesttoadaptmyapproachesto
studentlearningforoptimallearningandengagement.TheconstantfeedbackandsupportIreceivedfromallstaffandparticularlythatfrom
mymentorPeterGiles,hasallowedmetotailormylessonstodifferentiatingstudentabilitiesandneedswhilstalsomaintainingthelessons
objectives.Peter'ssupportthroughoutthisexperiencehasalsoallowedmetofurtherdevelopastrongknowledgebaseintheareasofphysical
education,healthandtheworkingsofasecondaryschool.TheexperienceandopportunitiesIhavereceivedwhilstatVUSChavebeen
paramount.Althoughthereisstillalongwaytogoandstillmuchtolearn,IbelievethatPeterandallthestafffromVUSChaveprepared
meforalongandsuccessfulcareerasasecondaryteacherforwhichIwillbeforevergrateful.
