DEAR SR/MADAME,

As an undergraduate student enrolled in the Department of

Geography ' s GIS program , I am immensely interested in being
considered for the technical GIS internship that you all are seeking
to fill . I am grateful to the faculty of my program who have
introduced myself and my peers to the invaluable skills that you all
are looking for . During my education here I have been learning the
mechanical functions of the ESRI software suite ( both ArcMap and
ArcGIS online , ) however , beyond that , the curriculum has been
especially enriching because it has provided me the opportunity to
witness those maps being applied meaningfully in the real world .
By taking regional and urban planning coursework under Dr . Boyer , I
was able to learn so many useful principles about the role of GIS in
the realm of planning . Moreover , I found it to be an absolute pleasure
to be able to learn directly from Mecklenburg planners themselves .
So many of them took the time to come and lecture to us on
important topics - - studying internal structure of the city
government , daily operations and the uses of tools such as the
' virtual charlotte ' map portal were fascinating .
I always try to be good person and put a lot of care and thought into
everything I do . I am also great at troubleshooting problems and
answering my own questions . Most importantly though , I promise
that if given the opportunity , I would give it my all and do everything
I can to be an excellent intern for the Charlotte Mecklenburg
Planning Department .
