Because much can get lost in translation, it is imperative we take the time to refine our

online language to garner the personal seal we would have otherwise displayed in person. Mr.
Robert Cialdinis video offers six shortcuts to persuasion, each of which can be conveyed over
the internet. The simplest to execute is consistency. Simply writing an action down and honoring
that commitment could then lead to consensus, another factor which influences people similarly.
Concerning emails specifically, an individual is more likely to trust a persons authority when a
signature and title are included. This piece of information could be too uncomfortable to ask in
person yet may supply someone with a significant amount of confidence in the asserted
authority. People may also be more inclined to accept a proposal if it is written out for them,
benefits explicit. People are driven to compete for limited resources, so depicting an anticipated,
scarce product furthers their urgency. While many of these shortcuts are easily transferrable,
some are slightly clumsy to deliver such as reciprocity and liking. Although these methods can
certainly be achieved online, they come with more limitations and prove rather challenging in
attempt to deliver sincerity and inflection.
