Business
Thank You: A big thank you to Eve and Helen who are stepping down
from the committee, for all their hard work to get things running. Eve as
very enthusiastic secretary, and Helen for arranging some amazing
speakers. THANK YOU!!!
Programme: The WI constitution requires approval of the programme
from the membership. To source speakers and presentations please can
everyone vote on suggestions that have been made, so we can arrange
the most popular. 3 votes each, with 3:2:1 points.
Bursaries: Few were applied for when first offered some months ago.
Now there is a procedure to follow and an application form, available on
the website. Courses/activities to be consistent with the objectives of the
WI. Applications need to be in by 30 September. A committee subgroup
will review and decide on these; outcome will be reported at the main
meeting in October
Sub Groups and Subsidies: To clarify things, the choir bursary has
now been reclassified as a subsidy. For other subgroups with costs
involved eg. room hire/ engaging someone, a policy/procedure note has
been prepared to give guidance (available on website). All financial
transactions through formal sub groups need to be included under the WI
accounts. For sub groups with possible need for subsidy (e.g. Craft Group)
it is important to share information with the committee in advance so that
the risk of a shortfall between income and expenditure can be assessed
and any requirement for subsidy can be agreed before any financial
commitment is made. If money is involved please speak to Liz Tingle.
Notice Board: Were looking at getting one for posters etc.; see also the
DEWI web and facebook page:
Duffield Evening WI website and

Duffield Evening WI facebook page

Cake and Bake Rota: If anyone wants to supply cakes for the meeting
please sign up on the rota. No obligations!

postponed due to technical difficulties. The 7 photos received will be
judged at Oct main meeting. October Competition is the best dressed
wooden spoon.
