Biodiversity is the sum total of all the organisms in an area.

Taking into account; the

diversity of species, their genes, their populations, and their communities. This is important in a
community because it allows other organisms to differentiate between each other. In this project,
we examined the different types of cars in the faculty and student parking lot at the school. It
could relate to examining the different types of animals in a single environment.
The field methods used in this study was to start off with dividing the class into two
groups. Each group was given four clipboards with a data sheet to begin marking off the different
cars in the lot they were assigned to. The types of vehicles were represented by a Van (V), Four
Door Car (4), Two Door Car (2), SUV (S), Jeep (J), Truck (T), or motorcycle (M). Our group
split into groups and split the lot among the individual groups to record the data while Andrew
got the area for the parking lot. Once all of the data was collected, they were calculated to get the
Species Richness, Evenness, Dominance, Overall Diversity, Shannon Index, the Population
Density, and the Distribution.

The three graphs above represent the Faculty Lot and show the results they had for each
species of car and the data they had recorded. The graphs below show the data collected from
the student lot.

In conclusion, the diversity between the two lots were low and the student lot had a lower
Shannon Index than the faculty lot, meaning the Faculty lot was more diverse than the Student.
The distribution between the two lots was completely random with a high dominance in four
door cars. Otherwise, the findings were relatively the same with only minor differences.
