Border English Teachers Association Pre-Service Teacher Award NOVEMBER 27, 2014 Sarah Toole Charles Sturt University Dear Sarah, (On behalf of the Border English Teachers Association (BETA), | would like to congratulate you on being a recipient of the 2015 Pre-Service Teacher Award. This award recognizes outstanding work at the pre-service level in the field of Education and particularly for demonstrating exceptional understanding and capacity in the area of Planning for Learning. ‘As we face the seemingly insurmountable challenges that the new Century has to offer, the role of quality educators has never been more important in our community. We, as a teaching fraternity on the Border, are so very heartened ta see people of your ilk that wil, in time, be the leaders of our vocational field. The responsibility of leading this noble profession is one that ‘your experienced colleagues of the English Teachers Association take very seriously, as we do the privilege of supporting pre- service teachers. ‘As you embark on your teaching journey, perhaps it would be worthwhile keeping the words of John Steinbeck at the front of ‘your consciousness and with it, the considerable responsibilty that his perspective entails 1 have come to believe that a great teacher is a great artist and that there ore as few os there are any other great artists.
