WEATHER INSTRUMENT PROJECT

This science project is to make a weather instrument. Choices include: rain gauge, wind
vane, barometer, anemometer, thermometer, hygrometer.
There are THREE parts to the project:
1. WRITTEN REPORT: (30 points)- Everyone turns in a written report
The written report describes what the instrument is, what it measures, how
it works, and how the student made it. This should be THREE paragraphs in
length. The first paragraph includes the instrument and what it measures, the
second paragraph covers how it works, and the third paragraph describes how
the student made it. Students can also take photos during the construction of their
model and include these photos in the report.
2. GROUP MODEL: (40 points)- Each child will be graded for their portion of the
model
The model is the instrument itself, which must be made by the student (parent
assistance is certainly encouraged). Group must be able to demonstrate to the
class how the instrument works.
3. GROUP ORAL PRESENTATION: (20 points)- Each child will be graded individually
on their portion of the oral presentation. Students will present their weather
instrument to the class and tell how it works.
4. COMPLETED ON TIME:

(10 points)

TOTAL POSSIBLE POINTS: 100 points (five points will be deducted for each day
late)
