Bryantseva Yu.V. Changes in structural characteristic of phytoplankton in the
Black Sea. Manuscript.
The dissertation on competition of a scientific degree of the candidate of biological sciences on a speciality 03.00.17 hydrobiology. Institute of Biology of
Southern Seas named by A.O. Kovalevskiy, National Academy of Sciences of
Ukraine, Sevastopol, 2000.
Structural features of phytoplankton have been studied for various areas of
the northern part of the Black Sea in the course of the annual cycle (March, May,
July, September, November 1992 and February 1993). Peculiarities of the seasonal
succession nature and phytoplankton development level in 1992-1993 have been
compared to its long-term tendencies. There have been given a spatial conjugation
of the structural features of phytoplankton to the oceanographic parameters in the
deep-water part of the Black Sea.
The difference of the phytoplankton state in the zones of water raising comparing to the contiguous areas and its alteration from summer to autumn has been
ascertained. It has been recorded that the part of Peridineae and Chrysophytae algae in the Black Sea phytoplankton increases, which is particularly strongly pronounced in the open waters. It has been determined that the algae biomass
changes are caused to a great extent by the variability of the atmosphere circulation, which acts indirectly through the water circulation peculiarities.
It has been confirmed for the first time that the considerable changes in the
open sea phytoplankton are stipulated by the summary influence of natural and anthropogenic factors.
Key words: phytoplankton, seasonal succession, long term changes, natural and
anthropogenic factors.
