Pioneer

Bible Translators sy Greg Pruett, President of
Pioneer Bible Translators
When [lived in West Aftica, we would feed our family
homemade pizza while famished village children stared
through the screen door, watching every bite. The kids
next door would catch and roast mice; my children would
fuss about eating their vegetables.
‘As I wept before God in prayer, searching for a Christian
response to the needs around me, He made it clear that I
could not just keep consuming a buffet of His riches. So
‘we planted thousands of fruit trees that will feed hungry
children for generations. Doing something that could
truly solve the problem felt right.
Another kind of hunger bothers me today—maybe you
haven’t seen it yet. Have you noticed the 209 million
Scripture-less people craving spiritual food just outside
our all-you-can-eat Scripture buffet? Jesus Said, “Man
does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes
from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) Two thousand
‘years after He spoke these words, 1,967 of the world’s
6,900 languages still wait for Scripture translation to begin,
and 1,174 of the world’s languages have no Church.
Where would you find hope
if you were born among these
people? Its time to lift our
“eyes above the buffet and see
the world in need just outside
the window.
Pioneer Bible Translators believes God is challenging this
generation to accomplish the goal of seeing churches with
Scripture transforming every language group on earth by
the year 2050. Our unique role is to pioneer areas of
complete spiritual poverty, empowering God’s people to
‘ross every language barrier with both Church and Scripture,
Just as the Lord showed me how to help starving children
in the village, I believe He has shown our team how to
meet the needs of the Church-less and Scripture-less
language groups of the world. We know where they are
and how to prayerfully mobilize, train, and send the
missionaries needed. Now we just need the resources to
move our team into position to do the job. Linking arms
with Christians everywhere helps us teach the most spirit-
ually and physically impoverished people on earth how to
follow Jesus and live out the values of His Kingdom! The
next generation of missionaries could leave behind them a
world in which churches with Scripture are transforming
every language group on earth. 3Jarrett Samuels
‘Children’s Pastor
‘There is an interesting situation in Mark 9:19; a man
with a son with an unclean spirit approaches Jesus.
His son was in the worst possible condition, and all
means had failed, but the miserable child was soon
delivered from the evil one when the parent in faith
obeyed the Lord Jesus' word, "Bring him to me.”
Our children are a precious gift from God, but much
anxiety comes along with them. They can bring joy
or disappointment. You might feel like they are
walking with Christ or that they have turned their
backs on Him. In all cases, the Word of God gives us
‘one prescription for the cure: "Bring him to me.”
The easiest time to pray for them is while they are
babies. They are so sweet and seemingly sinless and
yet we know sin is there; so let our prayers begin to
attack it. As they begin to grow and take on their own
personality, their own choices and consequences we
can feel sometimes that the battle is lost but Jesus,
words are simply, "Bring him to me." When they are
grown up they might continue to run with the baton
of faith that you passed on to them or act as if they
have never heard the life changing news of Jesus
Christ, we would do well to remember the Great
Physician's words, "Bring him to me." Don’t forget
that you are in a place where you know the love and
life that only Jesus offers because someone along the
way was intentional enough to “bring you to Him.”
We must never cease to pray until they cease to
breathe. No case is hopeless while Jesus lives.

Thoughts From Your
Worship Pastor
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to see Steven
Curtis Chapman and be led in worship through his,
ministry. In between songs, as he was sharing his testi-
mony he mentioned that for so many of us, we have a
difficult time making the “cighteen-inch joumey from
our head to our heart.”
‘Mr. Chapman suggested that one of the most powerful
ways to believe in our heart what we already know in
our mind is to engage what is half way in between the
‘two ... the mouth, By declaring out /oud what we
believe with our mouth, we begin to make the journey
from “knowing in my mind” to “believing in my
heart.” We need to speak out loud the truth!
This is one of the reasons why I love our corporate
worship experiences. We get to declare the truth of
Christ out loud together as a church as we sing His
praises! Notice how many times David acknowledges
praising the Lord through speaking and singing:
“L will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall
continually be in my mouth” (Psalm 34:1 NASB),
“He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to
our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the
Lord” (Psalm 40:3 NASB).
“O Lord, open my lips, that my mouth may declare
Your praise” (Psalm 51:15 NASB).
“My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness,
and my mouth offers praises with joyful lips”

“My mouth is filled with Your praise and with
Your glory all day long” (Psalm 71:8 NASB).
“With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to
the Lord; and in the midst of many I will praise
Him” (Psalm 109:30 NASB).
“My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord,
and all flesh will bless His holy name forever
and ever” (Psalm 145:21 NASB).
Can I encourage and challenge you? Next time we
meet together over a weekend, would you consider
joining us in song? Our time of singing is so much
‘more than good music; it is an opportunity for you
to make a journey from your head to your heart.
Let's declare the greatness of our God together next
weekend!
May the Lord bless you as you continue to bless the
Lord!
