4. SWOT
One of Sun Stars strengths is comprehensive coverage of 12 major cities. All editions also carry
national content, usually the same across all newspaper editions. It carries news, opinion,
features, weather, foreign exchange, photos, maps, graphics and video. It is a multimedia
approach to the story-telling function of media. Second, Sun Star has multimedia specials.
Sun.Star Blogs and Specials, a section where you can find updates on current events and hottest
issues of the day. Third, interactivity and feedback. Newspaper readers can voice out on issues
through texting and by e-mail. Online visitors could do the same plus they have the facility to
comment directly on a news report through a message board or by clicking on the comment link
on a blog post. Fourth, a new initiative, Sun.Stars webcast, it is still on test broadcast status, but
it has been available on the Sun.Star website since June 5, 2013. The webcast is delivered in

Bisaya, local dialect of the people in Cebu and other major cities in the Philippines, particularly
Visayas and Mindanao.
A weakness of the said company would be the internet. More people are now motivated to read
or go through the news online so this became a threat to Sun Star. But it has now been resolved
for the website Sun.Star Cebu was uploaded in October 1996, making it the first Philippine
community newspaper to go online. Sun.Star brand of journalism carried over the Internet makes
the website a reliable source of news in the surfeit of information online. Other weaknesses are
readers only get one interpretation of an article and there is a possibility of bias being present in
delivering the news.
Some of its benefits are product and services expansion and alternative media outlets (online,
radio). The Sun.Star website is benefiting from the content sharing going around among social
media users of Facebook and Twitter. Facebook, that social media site that is an online hangout
for most of its 800 million users worldwide, is giving the website an advantage in terms of reach
as Facebook sharing is sending readers to it. The Associated Press has reported on a study done
by the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism that showed how Facebook
is influencing what news gets read online as people use the Internets most popular hangout to
share and recommend content. With the growing importance of social media in the distribution
of its news and other information, the Sun.Star website office has devised a protocol to guide its
reporters and editors on the use of these tools. The Sun.Star website has an electronic newspaper,
a digital replica of the Sun.Star Cebu, Sun.Star SuperBalita Cebu, Sun.Star Davao, Sun.Star
Cebu YearBook and Bisdak Magasin. The e-paper can be read on your desktop computer, laptop,
iPhone, iPad, Blackberry, WinMobile, iRex, Nokia Smartphone, or Kindle. For readers outside
Cebu or the Philippines, this offers them the possibility of reading Sun.Stars latest issues just as
if theyre reading the print version.
5. Socio- economic Desirability
The objective of every business is to earn profit. The business is sensitive to corporate social
responsibility. This is concerned with the continued growth and improvement of the different
parts of the community. Below are the following are affected in the operation of the business:
ENVIRONMENT
In the implementation of this project, the environment would be the most affected. But in using
recycled papers, fewer trees would be cut. And humankind would have the opportunity to replace
the trees used for various reasons. Thus there would also be less garbage since used paper would
not be treated as such.
ULTIMATE USERS
Since majority of the business market are everyone except children, then it is bound to affect
almost everyone. Newspapers are regarded by economists as a necessity of modern life. The
proposed businesss customers keep in touch with the current world affairs. They supply a great

deal of information. And newspapers share their knowledgeable values by disseminating good
ideas, reviews of books and new discoveries.
