The Appalachian Plateau is very
mountainous with many rivers and
streams. Many kinds of animals live

Ridge and Valley


The ridge and valley region takes up
most of the northwestern part of
Georgia. The region has a chain of
low open areas called valleys.

Blue Ridge Mountains


The blue ridge mountains are located
in northern Georgia. They are part of
the Appalachian Mountain chain,
which runs all the way from
Pennsylvania into Georgia.

Piedmont
The piedmont region of Georgia is
between then blue ridge mountains
and the upper coastal plain. This
region has rolling hills, moutains,
forests, and rivers.

Upper Coastal Plain


The upper coastal plain region covers
southern Georgia. This region has two
parts, the lower coastal plain and
upper coastal plain.

Lower Coastal Plain


The lower coastal plain lies along the
Atlantic Ocean. This area has
marshes and swamps.
