ACE 492 Spatial Analysis

Luc Anselin
Fall 2003 Class Notes
12. Kriging
Objective: optimal spatial interpolation using the kriging principle.
Outline
Principle

Spatial prediction: models of spatial variability, large scale trend and small scale
autocorrelation, predictor
Kriging: best linear unbiased predictor
Covariance: covariance as a function of distance, improve prediction
Kriging weights: optimal weights, predicted value, kriging variance, practical considerations

Kriging Models

Kriging models: simple kriging, ordinary kriging, universal kriging
