The Patriots
We, the Patriots, want freedom and Independence from Britain because King George is
abusing his power by demanding and doing what he wants to. We will go against King George and the
Parliament because they are setting unnecessary rules. On the other hand, Loyalists are afraid that
they are going to lose their jobs, so they are being loyal to Great Britain. In addition, for many
residents of the colonies, the decision between Loyalists and Patriots wasnt easy.
The Proclamation Acts made Patriots suffer as it was the first tax law of the Thirteen
Colonies. The act was made by the French and Indian War (Indian + French vs. British Soldiers) when
Pontiac, the Indian tribe leader, wanted to keep peace. So he asked for 10,000 troops to guard the
west. To pay for the troops, Britain created these taxes. After the Proclamation Act, King George made
numerous more taxes to pay for their government. The most hated act was the Stamp Act. Every paper
sent was taxed with a stamp. WE tried to protest but King George kept ignoring it. I have less and less
money. They need to ban taxes.
Patriots also suffered from French and Indian War, with the Proclamation Act and sacrifices of
people. British commander never came to help us and they treat me with pointless and unfair taxes?
We know how to govern ourselves. We want control over our own lives.
The Britain taxes are hurting my business. King George is making too many taxes and acts.
Almost no one comes to my store. The King will destroy our ability to live well. Many Loyalists are loyal
to British because they dont want to end up in bankruptcy. There is no chance to stop the taxes until
we fight for it.
We, Patriots, should fight against the taxes and King George. We suffered from French and
Indian War, which is enough. We must fight for our own freedom and will.
