why do you think families are important?

Gracie: So you get good care.

Eddie: So you get adopted.
Rui: They give you good habits and give you good sharing..
Kotaru: Families are important because you can get a cat.
Charles: They take care.
Jean-Louis: Yeah, they take care of you.
Eddie: You go out with your family sometimes.
Ms. Alison: What kind of things might you do with your family?
Eddie: Go down to the pool.
Charles: Go out to buy something.
Rui: Go on your bicycles.
Jean-Louis: I also go on bicycles.
Gracie: Go to a restaurant.
Kotaru: Go to a restaurant too. I agree with Gracie.
Jumi: Singapore zoo.
Ms. Alison: So it sounds like youre saying that families are important
because they care for you, teach you things, and you do things together.
Eddie: You know something about families? Before you get adopted
someone has to get married with a girl.
Ms. Alison: Is that how a family starts?
Eddie: Yes.
Gracie: Or someone gets married with a girl.
Ms. Alison: Does everyone else agree? How do you think families start?
Charles: When you are just a baby you are inside the tummy. Inside the
mummys tummy.
Kotaru: When you get born [then you are part of a family].
Eddie: But before you get married you have to meet.
Gracie: And if you really like each other you might get married.
Ms. Alison: So you all became part of a family when you were born. But it
sounds like before that your family had already started with your parents.

Ms. Alison: Are there any more ideas about how families are formed or
why they are important?
Eddie: Families are special because when you get adopted you get a big
brother or a little brother.
Ms. Alison: Can you tell us more about what you mean by adopted?
Eddie: Its when you get a baby.
Ms. Alison: When your family gets a baby or when you are a baby?
Eddie: When you are a baby.
Ms. Alison: So like when you first come into the world when you are
born?
Eddie: Yeah.
