The3Dmagneticfieldsensorsystemisintegratedinthegearsensor.Thistypeofgearsensor

whilethebasestationtransmits,intheDownlinkchannel.Eachofthetwofrequencyrangeshavea
bandwidthof5MHz.Expressedsimply,thismeansthat2transmittersand2receiversineachcase
transmitandreceivesimultaneouslywith2differentfrequencies.
WithMIMOtechnology(MultipleInputMultipleOutput),itispossibleformobileradioprovidersto
offerdataspeedswithalowerrorrate.MIMOisthebasisforaspecialencodingprocedurewhichuses
bothtemporalandalsospatialdimensionsforinformationtransfer(Space-TimeCoding).
Asaresult,thequality(biterrorfrequency)anddatarateofawirelessconnectioncanbeimproved
significantly.MIMOsystemscantransmitconsiderablymoreBit/sperHzbandwidthused,andarethus
moreefficientthanconventionalsystems.InordertorealisetheMIMOtechnologyatBMWbothdata
antennaspresentinthevehicleareausedsimultaneouslyforthefirsttimefortheLTEconnection.
MIMOoperatessimilartotheantennadiversityintheradiosystem.Thesignalofbothantennasis
sent,evaluatedandcombinedtominimizeerrorsandoptimizedataspeed.
